Panchayats to prepare mid day meals in Sirsa villages

Chandigarh, Aug 10 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to entrust the responsibility of preparation of Mid Day Meals in the 300 villages in Sirsa district to the concerned panchayats with a view to ensuring quality of meals.

An official spokesman said that now mid day meal was being provided through village panchayats in 464 primary schools of the district.

He said that currently Mid Day Meal was being prepared under the supervision of Self Help Groups (SHG) in most of the villages of the district. Meals were being prepared as per the menu provided by the government.

He said a committee had been constituted in each village including Sarpanch of the village, a Woman Panch and a scheduled caste Panch as its members. This committee would ensure the quality of Mid Day Meal.

The spokesman said that more than one lakh children were being benefited by Mid Day Meal scheme in 563 Government Primary Schools of the district.
