Panchayat chief in trouble for misuse of official car

Anand, Aug 10 (UNI) A panchayat president has landed in trouble for travelling outside her jurisdiction in the official car.

Borsad taluka panchayat president Gitaben Solanki was attending a Congress rally at Gandhinagar yesterday when Congress activists clashed with the police. Ms Solanki had visited Gandhinagar in her official car.

In the ensuing melee and stone-throwing, Ms Solanki's official car was damaged and she chose to abandon the car.

The Gandhinagar police found the car and tracked down Ms Solanki after contacting district and taluka-level authorities. Ms Solanki's higher-ups have now issued her a show cause notice seeking an explanation as to how she had travelled beyond her jurisdiction in the official car and why she had not reported the damage to the car.
