Nitish Kumar takes charge of rescue operation of Aakash

Patna, Aug 10 (UNI) Taking a tough stand over abduction of a student Aakash, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the police to make all out efforts to rescue him safely from the clutches of the kidnappers.

Mr Kumar said he was personally monitoring the rescue operations and asked the police authorities to find the child as early as possible. He said the police were alert and had already initiated their move to trap the abductors.

Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan told UNI that Aakash would be rescued, however, he admitted that the police were yet to get any clue about the abductors. He said the Special Task Fortce (STF) had launched raids since morning in and around the state capital.

The Patna police framed a strategy to rescue the child and was coordinating with the police and district administration of adjoining distriscts.

Mr Kirshnan said that the resgitration number of the Maruti van BR1M 9612 used for abducting Aakash was fake and after investigation the number was found to be of an scooter. Further investigations were on, he added.

Aakash's mother had expressed apprehensions that his son might had been picked up on mistaken identity.

The city Superinendent of Police, P Anwar Hussain, said the vehicle used for the crime had not been traced yet. He said as per the informations given by the eye witnesses, the abductors sped towards Phaulwarisharif or Danapur along with the child.

The kidnappers even tried to run over a woman who had tried to prevent them from taking Aakash into the car, police said.

Taking congnizance of the abductions of children, Patna High Court yesterday directed the state government to file status report of kidnappings by October one and details of the action taken reprots.

Through an affidavit, the government informed that about 1204 cases of kidnappings are pending at various district courts, while the reports filed by the various district courts to Patna High Court, indicated that 1514 cases were pending at various stages across the state.

State Advocate General P K Shahi admitted that about 304 kidnapped children were still untraced out of which 165 were girls.
