Gen J J Singh pays homage to martyrs

Chandigarh, Aug 10: Army Chief Gen J J Singh today paid homage to the martyrs at the Veer Smriti, the Chandimandir military station war memorial. In his remarks in the visitors' book, the General noted, "A very inspiring and motivating memorial to the valour and bravery of the martyrs of the Western Command. May God bless you all." Later addressing officers of Chandimandir station, he felicitated all ranks for upholding the high traditions of devotion to duty, sacrifice, valour and professional competence, which had been amply displayed during various operations.

The Army Chief also congratulated all ranks for high standards of operational readiness and motivation, saying they were an assurance to the nation that the defence of our country was in safe hands.

He called upon the officers and jawans to rededicate them to the service of the nation and meet the challenges ahead in accordance with the motto 'Service Before Self'.
