Rs 105 crore for new college buildings
Shimla, Aug 9 (UNI) Rs 105 crore were being spent for developing the infrastructure of newly-opened 21 government degree colleges and every student would be made computer literate to open new employment avenues, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here today.
He was addressing students and staff of the Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya after dedicating the new Rs 30 lakh computer laboratory and laying foundation stone of the Rs 5.76 crore earthquake resistant Arts and Administrative Block.
He said that computer laboratories were being opened in all the government degree colleges by spending Rs 7.79 crore and in the first phase, 26 colleges had been provided Rs 3.04 crore for setting up of the computer laboratories by September this year.
Mr Singh said that every laboratory would be equipped with the state of art computer hardware and software having broadband, internet, LAN and Multimedia projector facilities.
These laboratories would add to impart employment oriented courses like BCA, MCA, ITES and BPO courses besides specialised certification courses to the students, he added.
The Chief Minister said that his Government was endeavouring to develop atleast one government degree college in each district as centre of par excellence where only meritorious students will be admitted.
