Passenger car sales witness 12.63 pc growth

New Delhi, Aug 9: Passenger car sales have witnessed a double digit growth at 12.63 per cent in July.

Sale of passenger cars grew by 12.3 per cent, utility vehicles by 11.41 per cent while the multi-purpose vehicles increased by 20.39 per cent in April to July 2007 period.

However, two-wheelers continued to witness a fall and this time, they declined by 9.18 per cent.

Scooters, mopids and electric two-wheelers grew by 17.15 per cent, 29.65 per cent and 73.46 per cent respectively while motor-cycles registered a decline of 15.10 per cent.

According to Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM), figures released here today automobile exports continue to register growth at 16.64 per cent during April to July 2007 period.

Three-wheeler sales also fell by 7.31 per cent with sales of both goods carriers decreasing by 12. 94 per cent and passenger carriers by 3.48 per cent during the period.
