K'taka to celebrate Dasara in grand scale

Bangalore, Aug 9: The Karnataka Government will celebrate the nine-day Dasara festival in Mysore in a grand manner, Minister for Kannada and Culture H S Mahadevaprasad said today.

Talking to newspersons after a high-level committee meeting, he said it was decided to invite a well-known personality to inaugurate the festival commencing from October 12.

The committee had suggested the names of Team India Captain Rahul Dravid and some other noted personalities for the inauguration, he informed.

The committee, which also reviewed last year's celebrations of the festival, suggested the government to conduct it in a disciplined manner by laying stress on developing infrastructure facilities for the tourists visiting during the festival.

Minister for Muzrai Nagaraj Shetty said the state government was planning to set up a separate authority for the development of Chamundi Hills, where the temple of goddess Chamundeshwari was located.
