Karnataka plans to celebrate Dasara festival in a grand way

Bangalore, Aug 9 (UNI) Karnataka Government today decided to celebrate the nine-day Dasara Festival in Mysore in a grand way, Minister for Kannada and Culture H S Mahadevaprasad said today.

Talking to newsmen after a meeting of the High Level Committee, he said that it was decided to invite noted personality to inaugurate the festival beginning from October 12.

The Minister said that the Committee had suggested the names of Team India Captain Rahul Dravid and some other noted personalities for the inauguration.

The Committee, which also reviewed the last year's celebrations of the festival, suggested the government to conduct it in a disciplinary way with a stress on developing infrastructure facilities for the tourists coming during the festival.

Minister for Muzrai Nagaraj Shetty said that the state government plans to set up a separate authority for the development of Chamundi Hills, where Goddess Chamundeshwari temple is located.
