ISRO plans to send astronauts
Bhopal, Aug 9 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman G Madhvan Nair today said ISRO is considering to send astronauts to space.
''A new capsule technique was been developed to send humans to space and bring them back safely. A report will be prepared on the basis of this technique and presented to the Centre for approval,'' Mr Nair, who was here to take part in the Bharatiya Vigyan Sammelan 2007, told reporters.
A space vehicle would be sent to moon as a part of 'Moon Mission' next year. The vehicle would be equipped with detectors for gathering demographic information.
He informed that ISRO would set up resource centres in 12 villages in Madhya Pradesh for providing information to people besides educating them.
The centres would disseminate information about natural resources at local level besides preparing maps using digital mapping.
Besides, a government school in Sidhi would be connected via this centre to 'Edusat' so that children could receive education from experts.
A three-day convention would start on November 21 in the state capital with the objective of taking ancient and modern science to public.
More than 3,000 representatives would take part in the programme.
During the convention, more than 800 papers would be read in various languages, including Hindi, in 36 sessions, he added.
