Haevy rains raise water level of Mahi dam
Jaipur, Aug 9 (UNI) With heavy rains still lashing Wagar region in south Rajasthan, water was being discharged continuously for the second day today from Mahi Bajaj Sagar dam to maintain the water level.
According to irrigation department, at least 10 of the total 16 channel gates of the dam were opened at least half a feet around 9 am in the morning. At least 2.93 lakh cusecs water is flowing into the dam. The dam capacity is 72.01 TMC while its water level has gone upto 280.50 metre.
The rising water-level has effected Gujarat's Kadana dam. It is posing risks to the religious place Galiyakot, where thousands of devotees congregate every year. Meanwhile with flow of water lessened in Kota barrage, all gates have been closed.
According to weather department, many places in Banswara, Dungarpur and Udaipur districts have experienced torrential rains over the past 24 hours. Banswara recordrd 136mm, Shergarh 110, Salopat 105m Bagidora 85, Sajangarh 78, Jagpura 74, Kesarpura 70, Lohariya 65, Kushalgarh 60 mm rainfall etc.
In Dungarpur 65 mm, Sagwara 35, Maliyakot 37 rain etc and in Udaipur's Jaisamand 110 mm etc.
In Hadauti's Ramganjmandi 17, Rawatbhata 13.6 mm etc. The State capital received showers in the afternoon.
The weather department predicts more rains with thunder in some part of south and northern areas. Some parts have been warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
