CCEA clears six laning of 838 kms of National Highway
New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for six laning of 838.10 km of National Highways (NH) at a total cost of Rs 5610.77 crore.
A meeting of the CCEA, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, gave the clearance for six laning in four major sections of the existing four-lane NH roads which pass through the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram told medipersons here today that the 291 km Panipat-Jalandhar highway (NH 1) in Haryana and Punjab would be converted into six lane at a cost of Rs 2198 crore, 225.6 km Gurgaon-Kotputli-Jaipur (NH 8) in Haryana and Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 1517 crore, 239 km Surat-Dahisar (NH 8) in Gujarat and Maharashtra at a cost of RS 1355.47 crore and 82.5 km Chilkaluripet-Vijayawada (NH 5) in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs 540.30 crore.
Mr Chidambaram said the project would be taken up under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) phase - V.
It would be built on the Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) pattern.
