Woman abandons three-year-old son

Aizawl, Aug 8 (UNI) An unidentified woman left her three-year-old son with an elderly woman on Monday and escaped.

Vanlalmawii, a resident of Dinthar, was sitting at a city bus stand when a middle aged woman approached her and requested her to look after the child for a few minutes. When the woman failed to return even after two days, Vanlalmawii, who had meanwhile taken home the child, informed the Aizawl police today.

The boy was later handed over to an adoption cell.

The Adoption Cell programme officer, Ms Dikkimi said she would inform the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which will take necessary measures.
