UP govt to bear education expenses of labourers' children

Kanpur, Aug 8 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to bear the education expenditure of industrial labourer's children.

Labour Commissioner Gajendra Pal said here ''the labourers and guardians, who fall under the Labour Industrial Dispute Act 1947 and whose monthly wage is not above Rs 6,500 per month, would get the benefit under the plan.'' Children pursuing degree programme would get Rs 4,000, while Rs 3,000 would be provided to those pursuing one-year diploma programme.

Those pursuing certificate programmes would be given monetary help of Rs 2,000 per annum, Mr Pal informed.
