Two injured as Maoists blast landmine

Visakhaptnam, Aug 8 (UNI) The banned CPI Maoists triggerd a landmine explosion, injuring Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation security officer Satya Murthy and his assistant Ramage Prasad at Sileru in the district early this morning.

Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police A Sabarwal said the landmine attack was to protest against the arrest of tribals who were in police custody on the charges of abetting the ultras in the agency areas.

The ultras also attacked a checkpost at Sileru and burnt the office records. They dropped letters and pamphlets protesting against the release of the tribals, he added.

The injured were shifted to a private hospital here.
