Technical team reaches Betul to repair dam
Betul (MP), Aug 8 (UNI) A high-level technical team from the state capital has reached Betul district for repairing 100-metre portion of the earthen Chandora reservoir, on the Tapti river, which had caved in.
''No loss of life or property was reported due to timely steps taken by the administration. The situation is under control,'' Collector Arun Bhatt told UNI.
He said repair work was being carried out on war-footing.
Necessary steps have been taken to avoid leakage.
A portion of the dam had breached in 1991 but was repaired later.
The Collector said Betul had received unprecedented rainfall this season. Usually, the district receives 40 inch rainfall during monsoon. However, it received 36 inch rainfall at the start of this season itself.
