TDP alleges Rs 1475 cr corruption in 'INDIRAMMA' programme
Hyderabad, Aug 8 (UNI) Alleging corruption to the tune of Rs 1475 crore in housing programme ''INDIRAMMA'', the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded constitution of all-party committees at state, district and mandal levels to check irregularities.
Addressing a press conference here, TDP Parliamentary Party Leader and MP K Yerran Naidu, took strong objection to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy condoning ''irregularities'' in the INDIRAMMA programme.
''The Voluntary Disclosure Scheme is the first of its kind to cover up the mistakes by Congressmen'', he claimed, demanding that all those responsible for the lapses be prosecuted and the amount recovered from erring beneficiaries under the Revenue Recovery Act.
Party Polit buro member Ummareddy Venkateswarulu objected to the placing of ''INDIRAMMA'' tiles in the newly-constructed houses and using tricolour paints.
''The national tricolour cannot be used according to the whims and fancies of the ruling party,'' he maintained.
It was the TDP, which started the weaker section housing programme and had constructed 79.54 lakh houses. It had won award from the Housing Development Corporation (HUDCO) for eight consecutive years, former Social Welfare Minister J Pushparaj claimed.
