Rehabilitation scheme for slum dwellers
Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) The Haryana government has envisaged an ambitious plan for the satelite town Panchkula to rehabilitate slum dwellers and more than 8,000 houses would be constructed for them.
This was stated by Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan here today.
Mr Chander Mohan said that under the plan 16 slum colonies of Panchkula would be rehabilitated and housing would be provided to the slum dwellers.
He said that during the first phase as many as 2072 multi-storey houses would be constructed at a cost of Rs 45.40 crore under the 'Ashiana Scheme.' The foundation stone of the complex would be laid by the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on August 12 in sector 26.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the first phase of this ambitious project would be completed within 15 months and the colonies would be shifted according to the priorities of the District Administration.
He said that Panchkula was emerging a fast developing town and infrastructure facilities were being made available to the people. Besides, efforts were on to generate more employment opportunities by setting up an IT Park and a Nano City.
