Meet on Mysore Dasara festival on Aug 9

Bangalore, Aug 8: A high-level committee will meet here on to discuss Mysore's famous Dasara celebrations, Karnataka Kannada and Culture Minister H S Mahadevaprasad said today.

He told reporters here yesterday that the committee headed by the Chief Minister would also discuss restricting the setting up of various committees and its members.

The government planned to limit the number of committees to nine in connection with Mysore's famous Dasara celebration this year.

The Minister also said the government had asked the people to celebrate Independence Day along with observing the 150th year of the First War of Indepedence.

Meanwhile, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the development of tourist spots in Chamarajanagar district.

Mr Mahadevaprasad said the government would spend at least Rs 2 crore for the development of 'Shivanasamudra', where it had planned to hold a two-day 'Jalapatotsava' from August 11.
