Life returns to normalcy in Mumbai as rains abate

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) After a day of torrential rain, life in the city and its suburbs returned to normalcy today with little or no rain.

However, the weather bureau has forecast heavy rainfall with the possibility of spells of thundershowers in parts of the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours, accompanied by strong gusty winds.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at most of the districts of Marathwada, central Maharashtra, Ghat areas and the Konkan region in the next 48 hours.

The total rainfall recorded in the city in the last 24 hrs till 0830 hrs this morning was 87.0 mm at Colaba in south Mumbai and 121.3 mm at Santacruz.

The Met department has issued a 'port warning' to fishermen on the Maharashtra-Goa coast advising them not to venture into the high seas in the next 24 hrs.
