Kerala sanctions Rs 50 cr for repairing roads

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 8 (UNI) The Kerala Cabinet today decided to sanction Rs 50 crore for taking up maintenance of roads damaged in floods and landslides during the monsoon season.

Briefing newspersons here after a meeting of the State Cabinet, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said the work would be completed within a month.

In order to contain price hike during Onam festival season, the Government constituted a revolving fund of Rs 20 crore for effective market intervention. The Civil Supplies and Consumerfed outlets would supply essential commodities at an affordable rate.

The Chief Minister said the Cabinet decided to appoint Mr Gopala Menon to head the team involved in eviction of illegal structures in the emerging tourist destination of Munnar.
