Hutch joins hands with Postal department in UP
Lucknow, Aug 8 (UNI) In a major public-private partnership (PPP) in Uttar Pradesh, leading private telecom company Hutch today joined hands with department of Post to provide mobile services in the state, particularly in the rural areas.
The two entities have come together to provide an array of Hutch servies to the people with the mobile company using all the facilities of the department of post.
Announcing this at a joint press conference here, Chief Postmaster General, UP, Neelam Srivastava and Hutch officials Shanker Bali and Rohit Adya said that Hutch will be utilising the wide netwrok of post offices across the state for cutomer sercice, sale of prepaid and postpaid connections as well as prepaid recharges and postpaid delivery and connections.
Ms Srivastava said that it is an unique agreement as how a private company was interested in extending their services to reach the remote corners of the state.
She said Hutch, after public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), will use 17,668 post offices in the state including 16,000 in the rural areas, 349 post office buildings and 57,000 employees under the agreement.
''Department will certainly earn revenue through this agreement while the employees will recieve incentive for selling the Hutch products'', Ms Srivastava said adding that now on Postal department will verify addresses of the customer at Rs 26 per head.
Mr Bali said Hutch constantly looks for innovative ways of making mobile telephony convenient and accessible to the masses.
Hutch also proposes to offer services, through the post office network such as faulty SIM replacement, PIN/PUK numbers for blocked SIMs, postpaid bill payment collections and information about existing and new products.
