Heavy rains lash Banswara dist in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Aug 8 (UNI) Many places in Banswara district have been receiving heavy torrential rains in the past 24 hours, while the administration has cautioned people in the low-lying areas to move to safer places.

Kushalgarh in Banswara district has recorded 162 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours. The 281.50 mm capacity Mahi Bajaj Sagar dam's water level has reached 280.75 mm. At least 2,36075 cusecs of water is flowing into it. In view of this, 15 gates of the dam have been opened to let out 1,86000 cusecs of water.

Meanwhile, three children aged between eight to 12 years, namely Anil, Vinod and Mohan were drowned in a water-filled mine in Bijoliya in Bhilwara district. With this the total death toll in rain-related incidents have gone upto 61.

According to irrigation and weather department, Banswara district in Udaipur division has been receiving continuous rains for the past 24 hours. Kushalgarh tehsil received 162 mm, Kesharpura 58, Danpur 88, Sajjangarh 42, Bagidora 40, Dungarpur 70, Chittorgarh 60.

Chittorgarh's Arnod received 78. Gadola 58, Bhupalsagar 44, Bhilwara's Mandalgarh 55, Jhalawar's Dug 69, Sunel 55, Ganagdhar 52, Aklera 40, Baran's Chabra and Chapiheda 30, Udaipur 50, Rajsamand 40 and many other places received rains between 10 to 30 mm.

The meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in Udaipur and Kota divisions.
