CS releases book on 'Eminent Persons of India'

Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant today stressed the need for recognising the importance of the sacrifices made by various martyrs for the Independence of the country.

''We must pay our respectful homage to the countless men and women, known and unknown, sung and unsung, who passed through many travails and tribulations and made the freedom of India possible,'' he said while releasing the a book entitled 'Eminent Persons of India' by Dr S P Gupta, former Professor of Economics in Haryana Institute of Public Administration.

Mr Prashant said that the new generation should never forget the significance of freedom and supreme sacrifices of our great freedom fighters. ''These great personalities have not only contributed in achieving Independence for India but also in the socio-economic development of the country.'' The book contains the biography of luminaries belonging to all fields of activity especially the freedom fighters, nationalists and patriots who laid their lives for the sake of the national freedom, men and women from the pubic life, freedom fighters, administrators, scientists, social reformers, sports persons, artists, industrialists and writers.
