Contractor shot dead in Manipur, bomb lobbed at MLA's residence

Imphal, Aug 08 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants today shot dead one person at at Thinungei area in Bishenpur district.

Police here said the 35-year-old contractor's body bore bullet injuries and was recovered by the locals.

Investigation was going on to ascertain the cause of killing, police said.

Meanwhile, police had also informed that a few miscreants today lobbed a bomb at Heirok MLA M Oken residence in Thoubal district.

A team of police rushed to the spot and detonated the bomb as it did not explode.

Police said since past few days there had been several cases of firing and attacks on ministers and MLAs by suspected militants.
