Contractor shot dead, bomb lobbed at MLA's residence

Imphal, Aug 8 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants today shot dead a contractor at Thinungei area in Bishenpur district.

Police here said the 35-year-old contractor's body bore bullet injuries and was recovered by the locals.

Investigation was going on to ascertain the cause of killing, police said.

Police also informed that miscreants lobbed a bomb at Heirok MLA M Oken's residence in Thoubal district. A team of police rushed to the spot and detonated the bomb.

Police said since past few days there have been several cases of firing and attacks on ministers and MLAs by suspected militants.
