Congress 'withdraws' its candidates from MC elections in Patiala
Patiala, Aug 8 (UNI) The Congress has 'withdrawn' all its 50 candidates fielded for the municipal corporation elections, polling for which began here this morning.
Announcing this here, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said the decision had been taken in view of the alleged use of muscle power in the elections by the ruling SAD-BJP coliation.
Thus the elections will not be free and fair and amounts to ''murder of democracy'', he said.
