Centre releases Rs 20 crore for kitchen sheds in HP schools

Shimla, Aug 8 (UNI) The Central Government has released Rs 20.59 crore in the first phase for construction of kitchen sheds in 3433 Primary Schools which have enrolment of 50 students, the state's Director Primary Education, B M Nainta said here today.

The entire amount had been received as 100 per cent central grant and the remaining schools would be covered in the second phase, he said.

At present the mid-day meal was being served in 10795 Primary Schools in the State under the scheme launched on September 1, 2004.

He said that construction of kitchen sheds would help in preparing the Mid day meal in safe and hygienic environment, specially in monsoon and winters and also minimise chances of theft of materials and equipments.
