BSNL employees union to hold demonstration against VRS

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Protesting against the BSNL's management proposal of voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for its 20,000 employees, BSNL employees union will organise a protest demonstration tomorrow.

''We will organise a protest demonstration tomorrow against the management's proposal of VRS,'' BSNL Employees Union General Secretary V A N Namboodiri said here today.

BSNL, which has an ageing workforce of over 3.6 lakh employees, had sought the government's nod to offer VRS to 20,000 employees and hire Class-I officers in their place to enhance efficiency and compete better with private operators.
