Bharti foundation to enable young computer wizard fulfill dreams
Lucknow, Aug 8 (UNI) Bharti Foundationhas come forward to fulfill the dreams of 14-year-old Shailendra Verma, the son of a daily wage labourer who has become the world's youngest computer science graduate.
Shailendra, a computer wizard, has completed his BCA from Lucknow university. His sister Sushma, has also created a record of sorts by passing out tenth board when she was only 7-year old.
Bharati Foundation, a wing of the Bharti Group of Companies, has bestowed this wonder kid with his dream computer model worth over Rs one lakh along with a monthly stipend of Rs 2200 has been sanctioned for a year.
Bharti Airtel Limited, UP East CEO Nagesh Rajanna said the Foundation will also support the course fee for Shailendra's Master degree in Computer Application(MCA).
Shailendra's younger sister Sushma has been given Rs one lakh by the Prime Minister's office recently to support her in the education.
Shailendra was admitted into the Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) degree programme of Lucknow University (LU) for the academic year 2004-05. His father earns a mere Rs 70 per day.
With the class X exam ahead this young prodigy set his sight on the class XII board exam. With the help of borrowed books and guides he not only cleared it scoring 44 per cent, but also notched up good enough marks in TOEFL and SAT to receive an admission invitation into the BCA degree programme of Eastern New Mexico University, USA.
But for a household which is hard put to afford a train ride, the us is a distant dream ospect.
