Badal hails SAD-BJP victory in MC polls
Chandigarh, Aug 08 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today thanked the people of Punjab for the free, fair and fearless manner in which they have given their forceful mandate in favour of the performance, policies and the programmes of the SAD-BJP government in the Municipal Corporation polls in the four cities of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.
In a statement here Mr Badal regretted that leaders of the beleaguered Congress party had not been able to accept the verdict of the Punjabis with dignified and democratic grace. He said that by casting aspersions on the courage, integrity and wisdom of the Punjabi electorate, the Congress leaders were guilty of trying to insult the spirit of Punjabis.
Mr Badal further said that the verdict had increased the sense of responsibility, humility and commitment of the SAD-BJP Government and that it would redouble its efforts to serve the people and carry out its commitments towards development and prosperity of the State. He reiterated that the promises made by the SAD-BJP during the elections would be fulfilled in letter and spirit.
The Government would usher in era of overall development with fresh horizons in the key sector like education, health and infrastructure, he said.
Mr Badal also thanked the state Election Commission for the free and fair conduct of the election process. SAD acting president Sukhbir Singh Badal has also hailed the victory of the alliance.
