Andaman PRI Chief Chosen for Rajiv Gandhi award

Port Blair, Aug 08 (UNI) Andaman Zilla Parishad Chairman R. Chidambaram has been chosen for the Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Best District/Panchayat Award for this year.

The award will be given at a function to be held in Hotel Bliss, Tirupathi on August 20.

Mr Chidambaram has been chosen for various outstanding village projects, including efficient tsunami rehabilitation works in remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands, officials said today.

Kerala Governor R.L.Bhatia will confer the award, an official release of Andaman Zilla Parishad said here.
