AKM flays Gogoi, vows to drive out illegal migrants
Kohima, Aug 8 (UNI) The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), the apex body of students from Ao community, has criticised Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his alleged failure to address the problem of unabated influx of illegal migrants in Asom from Bangladesh.
In a statement, the AKM claimed the failure to contain the influx was due to the ''malevolent politics of vote bank of the power.'' AKM president Aodangnok and vice-president I Imti Jamir said that Assam's local people might soon become a minority by the illegal immigrants in their own land, If the inflow of illegal migrants continued to swamp Asom.
Reiterating its commitment to '' Survival 2007'' (to drive out illegal immigrants from Mokokchung), the AKM also suggested the Assam's leaders to maintain close coordination with the neighbouring states in the region, insted of blaming them, in order to contain the menace of illegal immigrants.
The AKM informed that it would begin the next phase of ''Survival 2007'' campaign based on the Action Taken Report (ATR) from all the federating unions.
