Vigilance dept sanctions trial of 397 cases
Allahabad, Aug 7 (UNI) The under secretary of the Vigilance Department, government of Uttar Pradesh, has filed an affidavit in the High Court that sanctions in 397 cases of the public servants have been granted by it for trial.
The department said in 62 cases, sanctions are not needed as either the concerned officials had retired or they were not public servants.
Heaing the writ filed by G D Singh and others, the two bench comprising Justices Amar Saran and R N Mishra directed in the matter of grant of sanctions, the concerned authority shall definitely consider it for prosecution within three months.
The HC said the cases, where sanctions had been granted, they would be tried expeditiously.
The under secretary of the Vigilance Department had filed an affidavit that in eight cases, the competent authority refused to accord sanctions and matter had been referred for review before the State Vigilance Committee.
The court said the State Vigilance Committee sahall excercise its jurisdiction independently and will not be bound by the conclusion of the competent authority or the state government.
The next hearing of the case will be on October 29.
