Tripura seeks AAI's permission for eight-storied building
Agartala, Aug 07 (UNI) Tripura government has asked Airport Authority of India (AAI) to clear the project plan for setting up an eight- storied marketing complex to be run by the State Consumers' Federation (SCF) to compete with the private business concerns.
SCF Chairman and Legislator Bijoy Roy told UNI here today that the federation would make arrangement of selling all kinds of consumer items at comparatively low price to combat market monopoly of the private parties as well as to protect the consumers rights.
Mr Roy said the complex would be given to Aaitorma, consumer outlet of SCF, where a buyer would get all kinds of essential and luxury goods at cheaper price with highest satisfaction.
"Since Tripura comes under very high earthquake risk-zone (category V, magnitude 7.0 to 7.5), the state government has put a ban on construction of multi-storied structures in densely populated areas by a separate regulation and we got special permission with certain conditions but we have to get AAI clearance, as it will be the highest building in Tripura," said Mr Roy.
He, however, said quoting AAI officials here, the matter had been sent to Director General of Civil Aviation because the entire movement of the aircraft in Agartala has to be modified if the building comes up.
SCF has already given the reminders to AAI through state government for it's clearance, Mr Roy stated adding that necessary funds and other supports were ready to begin construction.
