Rs 50,000 from CMRF for family of borewell victim
Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced Rs 50,000 under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the family of Kartik (6), who died after falling into an open borewell at Botlagudur village in Prakasam district.
Kartik, who fell into the borewell on August 3 while playing, died of asphyxiation two days later as heavy rain and smoulders in the parallel pit made the rescue operations tardy.
The Chief Minister directed the District Collector to prevent recurrence of such mishaps and the district administration to create awareness among the people on the dangers of keeping borewells open.
He said stringent punishment under section 304 (A) would be initiated against the persons responsible for such incidents in the future.
Three boys had, earlier, died in similar incidents in the state where shallow borewells were left uncovered.
