Party matters not to be discussed in public: Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (UNI) Amid reports of growing infighting within the Kerala unit of the CPI(M), party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today made it clear that he did not want to discuss internal matters of the party in public.
''We will first discuss such issues in party fora and then inform media, if necessary,'' he told newspersons while participating in a face-to-face programme of the Kesari Memorial Journalists Trust here.
Mr Vijayan alleged that there was a strong move against the CPI(M) from certain quarters to counter the growing popularity of the party.
''Once the CPI(M) was a hated party and people were reluctant to join it. Now the situation is entirely different as the masses realised that the CPI(M) is a party that took up social issues in an effective manner,'' added Mr Vijayan.
Referring to the coalition politics, he said the CPI(M), which lead the ruling combine, would not hurt small parties in the Left Democratic Front(LDF). All the suggestions from constituent parties would be taken into consideration.
About the allegation of Minority Communities that the Government was trying to interfere with the functioning of educational institutions run by them, he said the Government had never initiated such a move.
Mr Vijayan said Chief Minister V S Achuthanadan and Education Minister M A Baby had held discussions with the church heads to wipe out all their apprehensions in this regard.
The CPI(M) leader said the Munnar eviction drive which was stopped temporarily, would continue with more vigour.
