New AIIMS-like Ayurveda institute to come up in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today laid the foundation stone of an Ayurvedic hospital at Khera Dabar near Najafgarh.
The institute, named after Delhi's first Chief Minister Chaudhry Brahm Prakash, will come up on the lines of AIIMS, said Ms Dikshit, speaking on the occasion.
She said that aim of setting up of this Institute was to promote the use of Ayurveda as a good alternative to modern medicine, develop modern techniques for the teaching of Ayurveda, promote research and development and bring Ayurvedic formulation to internationally accepted standards.
It will also strive to provide the best possible medical facilities for Ayurvedic treatment of patients in the rural areas and make available testing laboratory facilities of reliable standards.
The institute to be named Delhi Rajkiya Charak Ayurvedic Sansthaan would be developed as a premier institution on a 95 acre campus. It would have annual intake capacity of 80 students at UG Level and 30 students of PG level, provision for state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, modern tools of study such as video conferencing, Panch Karma, Kaya Kalp and Naturopathy unit, four types of herbal gardens, treatment through campus grown herbs and residential facilities for students, doctors and nursing staff.
The Ayurvedic Medical College would be made functional from the next academic session.
She further said consultations would be done with eminent Vaidyas including Devendra Triguna to develop this Sansthaan as an institution of eminence in rural Delhi.
Delhi Health Minister Dr Yoganand Shastri, Industries Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, local MP Sajjan Kumar, local MLA R S Kharab, and local municipal councillors also attended the function.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Shastri assured residents of the village that construction would be taken up on fast-track basis by DSIIDC.
Dr Shastri said that a new Ayurvedic College would also become a premier institute of learning where students from other countries would come to acquire knowledge in the field of Indian System of Medicine.
The villages in the vicinity will benefit, as its hospital will provide emergency services to the residents, he said.
Delhi Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan stated that the Rural Development Board which was provided an amount of Rs 125 crore has been able to provide infrastructure in the villages.
A total of 189 villages have been selected by the Delhi Jal Board for providing sewer lines on priority basis, he said.
Mini Treatment Plants would also be commissioned in certain villages.
