Marandi blames BJP and JMM for J'khand's backwardness

Jamshedpur, Aug 7 (UNI) Jharkhand Vikas Morcha(Democratic) president Babulal Marandi today came down heavily on the BJP and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) for the prevailing ''anarchy''in the state and vowed to defeat them in the coming elections.

Addressing the Jharkhand Front(JF) convention, Mr Marandi, who announced his party's joining with the JF, said corruption was ruling the roost in the state and the patries like the BJP and the JMM had only "exploited" the people.

Taking a dig at the big parties, Mr Marandi said, '' The one-point agenda of the big parties is to grab power at any cost and their all efforts are directed to stay in power by hook or by crook. '' He said the ''corrupt'' Madhu-Koda government could be thrown out of power if the Opposition remained united.

He alleged that neither was the Congress nor the JMM in favour of imposing the President's Rule and go for a fresh mandate as both parties were enjoying power keeping Mr Koda in the Front.

Later, talking to the media persons the former Jharkhand Chief Minister said the August 29 Jamshedpur bypoll would be a surprise one and he would launch campaign for JF candidate Bikash Mukherjee after August 13.

Expressing concern over the increasing threat of the Maoists in Jharkhand, Mr Marandi said he tried to bring the rebels to the mainstream of the society during his tenure but after his exit no Chief Minister made any sincere attempt to resolve the naxalite problem, he alleged.

To a question, Mr Marandi said the Third Front-UNPA of which the JVM was a constituent was emerging a strong alternative to the UPA and the NDA.
