MP: Live Heritage City proposal for Gwalior
Gwalior, Aug 7: A proposal is being prepared for getting 'Live Heritage City' status for this citadel town from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
UNESCO representative Minja Yeng, state representative Savita Raje and the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department officials would meet in the presence of MP Yashodhara Raje Scindia here today in this regard.
''On the basis of buildings and other infrastructure, a proposal has been prepared for changing the status for the town,'' said Madhya Pradesh State Tourist Development Corporation (MPSTDC) Chairman Dhurvnarayan Singh.
He added that if Gwalior got the status it would be the first town in the country to become 'Live Heritage City'. This would boost tourism here.
