Girl stabbed to death by spurned lover in college

Hoshiarpur, Aug 7 (UNI) A girl was stabbed to death allegedly by her spurned lover inside a college here this morning.

Davinder Kumar, a student BA third year in the Government College here, accosted his classmate Amarjot Kaur in front of the college library corridor and allegedly stabbed her repeatedly in stomach with a knife.

A resident of village Gobindpur Khun-Khun, Daviner had reportedly proposed marriage to Amarjot Kaur, a local resident earlier, but she had turned down his offer.

Amarjot was immediately rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Kamal, a student of BA second year, who tried to save Amarjot, was also injured in the assault and was admitted in the Civil Hospital.

When Davinder, overpowered by other students, was taken to the Pricipal Desh Vir's office, a vial of celphos tablets was found in his pocket and it was revealed that he had consumed some of the insecticide himself before assaulting Amarjot.

He was also rushed to the civil hospital. His condition was critical, Dr Gurbachan Singh, SMO, Civil Hospital said.

Model Town Police has registered a case under sections 302 and 309 of the IPC against Davinder Kumar.
