Farmers' body demand revenue waiver after flood
Guwahati, Aug 7 (UNI) The farmers of flood-hit areas of Aso m today requested adequate and fast relief from the state government, including waiver of land revenue, so that the losses incurred could be minimised.
The Assam Krishak Parishad have submitted a memorandum mentioning the various demands of the farmers' community of the state to state Chief Secretary PC Sharma.
In its six-point memorandum, the Parishad demanded that crop seeds should be provided free of cost at all the flood-hit areas.
Farmland should be tilled by tractors at government expense wherever needed, it added.
It demanded that the farmers, whose cropland had been lost in erosion, should be provided with alternate sites.
Moreover, the farmers' body also wanted the waiver of land revenue for farmers for the year 2007-08 and loan interest and installments for the same period against the agricultural loans.
