Apna Dal slams Mayawati govt for cancelling police recruitments

Lucknow, Aug 7 (UNI) Apna Dal today slammed the Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government for cancelling recruitments in police carried out by the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav government.

Talking to reporters here, Apna Dal national president Sone Lal Patel said if the present government was not satisfied with the recruitments in police, PAC and jail department, it should have punished the officials concerned. ''Cancelling the 22,000 recruitments was no answer...the government should not work on the principles of political vendetta,'' he said.

He also criticised the government for failing to help the victims of recent floods. ''While the common man was suffering, the ruling party was busy making money through transfer and posting of oficials,'' he alleged.

Mr Patel said despite floods being an annual affair, the state government had not made budgetary allocations to tackle the situation.
