SC issues notices to Goa Speaker, govt on MGP MLAs' petition

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notices to Goa Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane and the state government on petitions challenging the order of Mr Rane restraining two MGP MLAs from voting during the Digambar Kamat's trial of strength in the Assembly on July 30.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justice Tarun Chatterjee and R V Raveendran directed that the petitions filed by MGP MLAs Deepak Dhavalikar alias Pandurang and Sudin Dhavalikar alias Ramakrishna and the opposition Goa Democratic Alliance shall be heard on August 13.

The court also directed the respondents to file their responses before next Monday.
