No idea about any move in Congress to replace CM: Patil

Kolhapur, Aug 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said he had no idea about any move in the Congress to replace Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Talking informally to reporters at Ujalaiwadi airstrip on the city's outskirts, Mr Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, said he had read reports to this effect in some newspapers, in which they had named some eligible leaders for the post.

He said there was no question of his party staking claim because as per terms of alliance, his party had left the Chief Ministership to Congress and NCP was bound by it.

Replying to a question, he said people found guilty or involved, whether they be heavyweights of any political party, in the recently unearthed sex scandal at Malvan in Sindhudurg district would not be spared.

On the just-concluded strike called by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees to protest the government's move to allow private operators to carry passengers on their routes, he said the government will soon announce an amicable solution to the problem and promised to look into other demands of MSRTC employees.
