Military school students rebel against ragging, flee
Jamnagar, Gujarat, Aug 6 (UNI) Unable to bear the torment of ragging, military school students who picked up a fight with their seniors fled fearing disciplinary action.
According to police, a scuffle broke out last night between students of Class X and XI of Balachadi Sainik School near Jamnagar, following which 59 students fled from the school premises.
Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Piyush Patel told UNI, ''The Class X students were being constantly subjected to ragging since past few months. Last night, when senior students tried to rag them, the juniors rebelled and fistcuffs broke out.'' ''When other students alerted the school authorities about the fight, 59 students -- 43 of Class X and 16 of Class XI -- fled from the school premises fearing disciplinary action,'' said Mr Patel.
It was only after the police interfered that the school authorities brought back the students from Kunnad village, about two km away from the school, where they were hiding.
No case has been registered against the students since the issue was sorted out amicably, sources added.
