Hyundai exports 4th lakh unit of Santro

New Delhi, Aug 6: Hyundai Motor India, a subsidiary of Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, today said it has sold the 4,00,000th Atos Prime (known as Santro in India) to its overseas markets.

The total exports for the month of July this year alone stands at 13,200 units, which is a 57 per cent year-on-year increase from the 8,406 units exported in July 2006.

''The export of 4,00,000 cars within such a short time is ample proof of our performance. With India becoming the manufacturing hub for Hyundai small cars, we expect to achieve even greater milestones as India's largest exporter in the automobile industry,'' Hyundai India Managing Director H S Lheem said.

The company had sold its 1,00,000th car in October 2004, 2,00,000th car in October 2005, and 3,00,000th car in October 2006.

The company currently, exports Santro, Getz and the Accent model to about 67 countries across Europe, Africa, Latin America and the West Asia.
