FTC awards death sentence to youth for murdering 13 women

Virudhachalam, Aug 6 (UNI) A Fast track court here today sentenced to death, a 24-year-old youth, for raping and murdering 13 women in the last seven years in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu.

Holding that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, Fast Track court judge M Pugazhendhi awarded death sentence, 17 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000, in default, six more months imprisonment on various counts to the convict Ramesh (24).

Ramesh, who had lost his parents at the age of eight years, committed the first crime at the age of 17 years.

After murdering girls after raping them, he started murdering women for gains and the victims included a Sivakozhundu (50) and Thiruvachi Ammal (60) in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts.

Holding that this was the rarest of rare cases, the judge said the accused deserved death sentence as he had murdered women, who were like his mothers and behaved in a barbaric manner.
