Five arrested with 11 stolen motorcycles, one car

Kapurthala Aug 6 (UNI) Kapurthala police has arrested five members of a inter-district armed gang of two-wheeler lifters and recovered 11 stolen motorcycles and one Maruti car besides one 12 bore gun and few cartridges and swords from their possession.

Talking to mediapersons here today, SSP Rakesh Aggarwal identified the arrested accused as Jatinder Singh of Dhandal village in Kapurthala district, Raj Kumar of Surpur village in Jalandhar, Viney Kumar of Krishanpura colony in Jalandhar, Palwinder Singh of Sunder Nagar in Kapurthala and Galu of Talwandi village Chaudhrian in Sultanpur lodhi.

The SSP said the gang members confessed to have stolen 20 motorcycles from Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts. He said the gang had two master keys which could start any type of motorcycle.

With the help of these keys they used to stole the motorcycles and after preparing fake registration of the stolen motorcycles they used to sell it.

The police is also investigating the role of District Transport Offices of Jalandhar and Kapurthala in preparing the fake registrations of stolen motorcycles, the SSP said.

Police has registered a case under sections 399 and 402 of the IPC and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act against the arrested gang members.
