CM ask officials to act against borewell contractor,owner

Hyderabad, Aug 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed officials to take stern action against the contractor and owner of the borewell in which a six-year-old boy fell on Friday last and lost his life.

The Chief Minister, who expressed grief over the death of Kartik, instructed the officials to impose a fine of Rs two lakh each on the contractor and the owner of the borewell, besides filing criminal cases against them.

He said he had already instructed the officials and the contractors to take steps to cover the borewells immediately to avoid such incidents. But no action was taken by the officials concerned and the contractors. Action would also be taken against the officials responsible for this negligence, he added.

Dr Reddy directed the officials to take necessary measures to avoid such unfortunate incidents in the future.

The officials yesterday retrieved the body of Kartik, who fell into the borewell on Friday at Botlagudur village in Prakasam district.
