Amarinder unwell, cuts short MC campaign in Punjab

Patiala, Aug 6 (UNI) Former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had to cut short his campaign in the Municipal Corporation elections here after he complained of dizziness and had to be rushed back to his Moti Bagh palace residence.

According to Congress sources, Capt Singh was leading a road show in an open jeep on the last day of campaigning in the city today, when all of a sudden he complained of uneasiness and dizziness. He was immediately helped off the jeep by Congress workers and was put into a air conditioned car and taken to his residence.

On reaching his residence, Capt Singh slipped while going to the bathroom and had to be again assisted by his party workers and security staff. Doctors who later examined the former chief minister have advised him complete rest and said that such problems (dizziness) occurs in hot and humid conditions and when one gets over worked.

Despite the hot and humid conditions, Capt Singh has been busy campaigning for the party in the MC polls in the cities of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Jalandhar since the last three of four days.

The campaign comes to a close this evening and voting will be held in the four cities on August eight.

Capt Singh had twice gone to the UK since losing power in February this year, for medical check-ups. Meanwhile his MP wife Perneet Kaur carried on with the road show in the city after Capt Singh was taken to Moti Bagh palace.

Doctors later described Capt Singh's condition as stable.
